Luxury travel insights on the TRENZ breakfast menu

Luxury travel insights on the TRENZ breakfast menu

New Zealand tourism operators attending TRENZ 2017 (9-12 May, Auckland) will get invaluable insider insight into the minds of luxury American travellers and how to attract these high-value visitors.

The luxury travel trends presentation by a panel of writers for leading US publications is part of the TRENZ 2017 Breakfast Speaker Series, which is designed to add value to the 300 New Zealand tourism operators who attend TRENZ, the most important international business to business event on the $35 billion tourism industry annual calendar.

US luxury travel trends panellists include Heather Halberstadt, an award winning Features Director at Departures, a luxury lifestyle magazine. She is joined by Nadine Jolie Courtney, a Los Angeles-based freelance writer, covering luxury travel, lifestyle and royalty. Courtney is a regular contributor to Town & Country, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. The third panellist is Robert Silk, Airline Editor at Travel Weekly, the largest industry trade publication in the US. The panel will be moderated by Nancy Trejos, a USA TODAY travel writer.

“The Breakfast Speaker Series will kick-start the TRENZ day with stimulating and informative presentations on a range of relevant topics,” says Emily Byrne, Director of Events for Tourism Industry Aotearoa which manages TRENZ.

“As well as the US luxury travel trends session, we also have a panel of international travel and tourism Buyers from the UK, Americas and Philippines who will provide insight into travel trends, opportunities and challenges. Another panel is from Air New Zealand, Auckland Airport and Christchurch Airport, exploring the growing importance of airports as destination and multi-function travel hubs in their own right.”

Mrs Byrne says TIA is delighted with the support TRENZ partner Tourism New Zealand provided in attracting such high calibre international presenters to this year’s Breakfast Speaker Series.

Lisa Gardiner, Tourism New Zealand’s Business Events and Premium Manager, says “New Zealand has a fantastic premium tourism offering that continues to attract growing numbers of international luxury travellers. It’s great to be able to provide the New Zealand industry the chance to hear more about how they can appeal to and meet the needs of the premium traveller from the USA.

“Premium travellers can spend more in one day than a traditional tourist would spend over their entire visit, so they are an incredibly important tourism market.

“Attracting people who have the ability to travel anywhere in the world is challenging as well as very competitive. Insights about the luxury traveller market and what they are looking for is extremely valuable and can really help the industry exceed expectations.”
