HiFX Data Update - NZ April Trade Balance Release

The NZ Trade Balance for April has just been released.

They came in better than expected (i.e. larger surplus):

NZ Trade Balance:

Trade Balance (Apr) $578 mio Surplus Consensus $310mio Surplus
- Imports (Apr) $4.17bio
- Exports (Apr) $4.75bio

Trade Balance Year to September $3.48bio deficit Consensus $3.71bio deficit

The NZD is slightly higher in immediate response.

NZ Government Annual Budget will be released at 2pm Thursday.

Current indicative rates are:

NZD-USD 0.7005 / 0.7035
NZD-AUD 0.9370 / 0.9395
NZD-EUR 0.6260 / 0.6285
NZD-GBP 0.5400 / 0.5425
NZD-JPY 78.35 / 78.60
