ghd Encourages Women to Show ‘Their Hair Cares’

ghd Encourages Women to Show ‘Their Hair Cares’ in Viral Shoot Featuring Ambassador Pia Miller

Monday, 31 July 2017 - ghd and brand ambassador Pia Miller have released imagery showcasing the actress’ support for the ghd’s charity alignment with National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

Pia Miller posed in a wig cut and styled by ghd Australia & New Zealand Creative Director, Richard Kavanagh transforming her famous long tresses to a bob hair style for the ‘My Hair Cares’ campaign, which aims to empower women across the globe to embrace their hair whether it is their own hair, or a wig used in the stages of cancer.

The campaign calls out to people to show their hair cares and have important conversations about breast cancer awareness and research.

‘My Hair Cares’ understands the importance of hair throughout all stages of chemotherapy and the use of wigs throughout this process. The imagery’s purpose is to spread the message that no matter if your hair is long, short or not your own, you have the power to feel good about yourself and to have a good hair day, every day!

The wig, styled by Richard Kavanagh will be gifted to breast cancer patient, Kelly Faulkner, to enhance her self-confidence at the current stage of her treatment.

Kelly was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, and is currently half-way through chemotherapy treatment. Kelly is excited to receive this wig from ghd and hopes the viral campaign will reach people who are not informed about breast cancer in Australia and New Zealand.

This gesture acknowledges the profound psychological effects of hair loss on women and that the purchase of a wig is often an unprecedented cost many face. Specialised wigs can cost thousands and is something many women find a daunting experience.

As part of their pink blush collection launch and campaign, ghd is aiming to provide information to women recovering from treatment-related hair loss on how to style their grow back or their wigs easily though a range of hair styling tips and tutorials.

The support of the ‘My Hair Cares’ campaign encourages other women to have a good hair day, every day by purchasing products which aid in raising funds for important cancer research.

ghd has supported breast cancer charities in Australia and New Zealand for over 14 years and every year creates a limited edition range of stylers and hairdryers where a percentage of the sales goes to breast cancer foundation partners. ghd is a platinum partner with the National

Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and a gold partner of Breast Cancer Foundation NZ (BCFNZ) and globally, ghd has helped raise more than $20 million for breast cancer charities.

Today, funds raised by BCFNZ allow for the latest technologies and equipment for hospitals, access to treatment, research, training for doctors and nurses, support for clinical trials and lobbying for wider access to trials of new drugs.
