Queenstown Airport monthly passenger traffic report - December 2017

Report of Queenstown Airport's monthly passenger and landing statistics for December 2017.

Below is a quick summary of the month’s results compared with the same period last year:

The total number of passengers travelling through the terminal increased by 13% compared with last year to 200,082 passengers in December.
• Domestic traffic was up 14% on December last year to 147,563 passengers.
• International passengers were up 10% compared with last December, assisted by strong growth in early and late December.
• In December, the 12-month passenger numbers reached 2,017,619 million, up 13% compared to the previous 12 months.

Some points of interest:
• The last week of December saw 51,852 passengers through the terminal in one week, a new record.
• The busiest passenger days were Saturday 23 December, Saturday 30 December and Thursday 28 December.
• Arrival numbers into the airport peaked on the weekend prior to Christmas.

Two millionth passenger milestone achieved:
• On 20 December 2017, the Brunton family from Hamilton, travelling on NZ613 from Auckland to Queenstown, made history when they became Queenstown Airport’s two millionth passengers in a year. This was an important milestone for the airport, stakeholders and the community. Mayor Jim Boult, Queenstown Airport Chair Prue Flacks and Chief Executive Colin Keel officially welcomed the family, along with a large turnout from staff across the airport community.
