Spidertracks Flies Helicopter Safety to New Heights at Heliexpo 2018

Industry leader in real-time flight tracking and aircraft management Spidertracks are unveiling a new tier of helicopter safety at this year’s HeliExpo in Las Vegas. Bundled under their Spidertracks 2.0 umbrella, these groundbreaking developments aim to elevate the overall level of safety across the entire industry and to do so at a widely affordable cost.

Spidertracks’s three new plans (Basic, Premium, and Advanced) are available to customers anywhere in the world. In an industry first, they allow users to pool their data allowance between all aircraft in a fleet and to roll that data over month-to-month, enabling unused data to accumulate over a year.

The plans range from $79 to $149 per aircraft per month, and each plan offers fixed coverage; one simple monthly charge; unlimited access to core services such as Spidertracks’s patented automatic distress detection; and the ability to add hardware as a monthly charge over two years (rather than paying upfront).

They also include the recent development SmoothTrack*, which uses the Iridium satellite network and cell position reporting to provide richer tracking data and a high-definition image of the aircraft’s trajectory.

In addition to these new plans, Spidertracks is releasing no-cost upgrades to their base service in the form of new features such as unlimited dual-channel cell tracking and geo-referenced IFR high/low charts within operators’ portals.

Underpinning these new plans and features is Spidertracks’s branded Global Cross-Channel Communication (GC3) service. GC3 essentially functions as a giant web, harnessing the power of various channels (including Iridium, cellular/wifi, and even GSM handsets) to provide customers with comprehensive, constant coverage across the globe — even in remote locations.

GC3 utilises Spidertracks’s aviation-designed and -certified hardware to provide customers with the biggest development of all: collecting raw data and sending it to the pilot’s smart device, using the device’s vastly greater computing power to process said data. This lowers the processing burden on both the Spider and the Iridium network, allowing Spidertracks to deliver data to and from the aircraft faster and at a lower cost.

And it’s this last point that Spidertracks are particularly proud of: making their game-changing advancements available to the commercial general aviation sector rather than just the operators with unlimited budgets.
