Bankrupt Auckland builder sentenced to prison

Bankrupt Auckland builder sentenced to prison for serious breaches of Insolvency Act

Bankrupt Auckland builder, Li Dong Xie, has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison for multiple breaches of the Insolvency Act.

"We are pleased with this sentence, which is reflective of the serious harm caused by Mr Xie's failure to meet his obligations as a bankrupt,” says Official Assignee Ross van der Schyff.

"This should send a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated, and those who attempt to game the system will see serious consequences."
