Living Wage Adopted by Inspired Kindergartens
25 July 2018
MEDIA RELEASE
Inspired Kindergartens is proud to announce they have become a Living Wage Employer from 30 July 2018.
The move will affect kindergarten administrators, cleaners and teacher aides all of whom have a significant impact on the lives of children and families at Inspired Kindergartens.
“There is a history of low pay for teachers’ aides in the education sector. Often teacher aides work with our most vulnerable children and the fact that the majority of them are paid minimum wage, is a matter of concern. We are taking a principled stand and we hope it is picked up by other education providers and the Ministry of Education.”
“We believe that quality education requires that we value our people. This move enables us to continue to provide the type of education and care that we want for all of our children,” said Principal Peter Monteith.
Inspired Kindergartens and Home Based Education offers quality preschool education to over 900 children through its network of 20 kindergartens and home based education services.
