Peter M Acland Foundation Journalism Fellowship 2019

Applications for the Peter M Acland Foundation Journalism Fellowship 2019 close on November 30.

The fellowship enables journalists to work overseas at a media organisation of international repute at no cost to their employer or their host. It covers the recipient’s salary, travel and accommodation for an agreed period, typically up to three months.

The 2018 fellow, Michael Wright of The Press, joined the features department at the Tampa Bay Times in St Petersburg, Florida.

The fellowship, which recognises the career of the late Peter Acland as a journalist, is open to all journalists working in newspapers, magazines, radio, television and digital media who can demonstrate sustained excellence and a commitment to quality journalism.

Recipients are required to work for the period negotiated. Observerships and study posts will not be funded.

On their return, recipients must submit a report to the Peter M Acland Foundation reflecting on their experience and are expected to share knowledge and skills acquired with colleagues and the wider industry.

Applicants must submit letters of support from both their employer, unless self-employed, and the overseas organisation where they propose to work. These will confirm that the employer approves the application and outline the workplace arrangements approved by the host organisation. Applicants are required to detail how their nominated period of work will benefit them and NZ journalism.

Applications for the 2019 Peter M Acland Foundation Fellowship close on November 30 and must be submitted by completing the application form on http://www.peter-m-acland-foundation.org/

The judging panel comprises journalists of acknowledged repute and trustees of the Peter M Acland Foundation.
