Agricultural Aviation Sector Ensures Professionalism
"The Aerial Agricultural industry
takes a great deal of pride in the professionalism of our
operators and pilots and we can assure the general public
that agricultural pilots are
extremely well trained in
systems that ensure unwanted risks to people, property or
the environment are mitigated’ said Tony Michelle,
Chairman of the NZ Agricultural Aviation Association
(NZAAA).
‘It is unfortunate that in the case of the Carterton School incident, the coincidental presence of an aircraft in the vicinity of the school had led to unfounded speculation before factual corroborating evidence had been obtained’, said Michelle.
The NZAAA has a best practice program called AIRCARE that ensures the highest standards of professionalism are met by aerial agricultural companies and our pilots. Independently audited, the program also has the ability to deal with transgressions from best practice to ensure that the interests and expectations of the general public are met, Michelle explained.
Annually, the aerial agricultural sector adds an estimated two billion dollars of benefits to the economy. We are committed to the long term sustainability of our industry and we are intolerant of any activity that brings our industry into disrepute, concluded Michelle.
