14 November 2018 – Auckland-based independent digital electricity company Electric Kiwi has secured the number one spot in the 2018 Deloitte Fast 50 index with a dramatic 3602% revenue growth over the past three years. This is the third time in the history of the New Zealand index that an electricity company has taken out the top slot.

The 2018 national Rising Star Award winner, recognising early stage companies who don’t yet qualify for the Fast 50 index, is sharing economy parking business Parkable. The runner-up, labeled Rising Star “One to Watch”, is investment platform Sharesies.

Southbase Construction has taken number one ranking on the second-ever Master of Growth index with 745% revenue growth over the past five years, followed by activity online booking engine experts Bookme (482%) and natural beauty product manufacturers MIX (437%).

Introduced in 2017, the Master of Growth index ranks the 20 fastest growing established businesses achieving longer term sustained growth. It ranks businesses starting from a larger revenue base, and over five years of revenue growth.

Deloitte Private Partner Bill Hale says the Fast 50 programme, now in its 18th year, isn’t just any old business awards programme.

“The Deloitte Fast 50 is a thriving centre for fast growing Kiwi businesses of all shapes and sizes. These innovators, entrepreneurs and pioneers of New Zealand business are accomplishing amazing things for their companies,” says Mr Hale.

“The range of talent we celebrated today at the Fast 50 Festival of Growth shows us that all business types, from right across New Zealand, are excelling. What they have in common is a grounding in enduring business values like strategy, capability and commitment. And they flourish by making the most of their uniqueness and executing on their plans,” concludes Mr Hale.

About the Deloitte Fast 50
The Deloitte Fast 50 index ranks the top 50 businesses in New Zealand according to their revenue growth over the past three years.

Entrants are required to be New Zealand registered companies, have been in business for a minimum of three years, have had operating revenue of at least $500,000 in the 2015/16 financial year (FY16) and supply a full set of financial accounts for FY16, FY17 and FY18.
