Is Comparison Shopping the Saviour?

Is Comparison Shopping the Saviour of the New Year's Resolution?

As 2018 starts to wind down and we start to countdown the days to New Year, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions.

Perhaps you want to save more, pay down debt, or start budgeting? Maybe you’ll finally take the big holiday you’ve been dreaming of. You could plan to quit alcohol, sugar, smoking or any number of unhealthy habits. Perhaps you want to join a gym and become a fitter, healthier you.

But, as anyone who has made one knows, the problem with New Year’s resolutions is that nearly 90% of them are broken by the end of January. In fact, how often does the same resolution appear year after year?

This is where comparison websites like those run by NZ Compare can help. They offer a simple way to implement smart, easy resolutions you can actually stick to.

NZ Compare founder and CEO Gavin Male says, "Comparison sites on NZ Compare offer a great shortcut to achieving your New Year’s resolutions. We make it really easy for people to sit down and compare plans for broadband, power, financial services and travelall in one easy place. In fact, in one sitting you could easily tick off your list to spend less money, choose a saving account, choose a Kiwisaver fund, budget better, start managing debt, or start planning a trip. You don’t need to spend another year feeling guilty about not completing a New Year’s resolution!

How much could you actually save on a comparison site? Male says "Simply comparing your broadband provider throughwww.broadbandcompare.co.nz could help you save up to $400 per year. Research carried out by NZ Compare earlier this year indicates that thousands of Kiwi household are paying up to $400 a year too much for their broadband on legacy plans with old providers. Comparing your broadband only takes a few minutes. It’s something you can do now, and benefit from for the next year as you free up cash to go into savings, a gym membership, a new hobby, or a better you!"

New Zealanders are quickly adopting comparison websites to compare the options when they make purchase decisions. Over 900,000 New Zealanders used NZ Compare websites in 2018 to compare broadband, power, financial services and travel.
