Sian Johnson joins Fidelity Life as Head of Underwriting

Fidelity Life, recently crowned as New Zealand’s 2018 Life Insurance Company of the Year, has announced the key appointment of Sian Johnson as Head of Underwriting and New Business.

Sian fills the vacancy left by Stephen Potter and will take up her role from 21 January 2019.

Sian joins Fidelity Life from Partners Life where she held the positions of GM Claims and Underwriting and most recently Chief Underwriter.

Fidelity Life Chief Operations Officer Neale Watling says Sian will add enormous value to both Fidelity Life and to advisers’ businesses.

“Sian brings both leadership and innovation capabilities to our already strong underwriting and new business teams. With our strategic focus on operational excellence, Sian’s almost 20 years in the insurance industry and deep operations experience and knowledge makes her an ideal fit for this critical role.”

Sian will focus on growing the talent in her team and delivering more adviser tools and underwriting automation. Her appointment follows a raft of recent appointments to Fidelity Life’s Distribution team as the company looks to improve its proposition to advisers and to customers.

“We’re really excited to have someone of Sian’s calibre joining us as we embark on our second consecutive year as New Zealand’s Life Insurance Company of the Year,” says Neale.
