A Fresh Look for Haitaitai’s Families

A Fresh Look for Haitaitai’s Families

After 15 years of operation, Basho Hair Design in Haitaitai Village has a fresh new look, having sold to a new owner and becoming ‘Haitaitai Family Barbers’.

Locals can expect the same fantastic service and friendly feel, with previous owner Bashir Assaf staying on to deliver loyal customers their same cut and colour. The barbershop is also launching exciting new services that aim to make it even better.

The premises is a local institution, as it has been a hairdresser since 1990. And after buying the business in 2003, the Haitaitai community has turned to Bashir for world-class cuts. However he’s passed over the reigns to spend more time with his young family. Bashir said: “Selling the business was a really tough decision for me. Even though I’ll still work here, it is quite emotional. I’ve cut hair across generations of families - like teenagers who now bring in their own kids! The Haitaitai community is so friendly, and I’ve loved building relationships with everyone. But I know the place is in great hands with Aaron!”

The new owner, Aaron Graham, sees the business as part of the fabric of Haitaitai village and is keen to build on its relationships, community values, and level of service. He explained: “With Haitaitai Family Barbers, we want to be a space that families enjoy visiting and which makes their busy lives easier. Unlike many other barbers, we offer a full service for mums, dads, boys, and girls - so the whole family can come in together to have their hair cut. Everyone is welcome here!” The community has been really interested in the change, with lots of curious locals coming in to ask about the new shop.

Aaron said: “Haitaitai village is so vibrant, and we’ve been blown away by how many people have stopped in to say “Hello” and chat about the change. We want them to know the new shop has the same values, competitive pricing, and family-friendly atmosphere - all with some exciting new developments.”

Along with Bashir’s usual services, Haitaitai Family Barbers is also embracing technology and extending more options for customers. Aaron explained: “We’ve added online bookings to make getting a quick cut easy. We’ve also expanded our grooming services through our talented barber Jacob. We now offer facial waxing, threading, hot-towel facial massage, and straight razor shaves.”

Right now, Haitiaitai Family Barbers is offering $5 off for each member of the family customers bring in. For example, if mum, dad, and two children all get their hair cut, they’ll save $20.

Haitaitai Family Barbers is located at 31 Waitoa Road, Haitaitai. You can find out more or make bookings through their Facebook page: facebook.com/HataitaiFamilyBarbers
