--

The Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum (ANZLF) welcomes the opportunity to meet today with the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers to discuss the critical importance of the trans-Tasman relationship.

ANZLF Co-chair Adrian Littlewood said, "Ann Sherry and I are looking forward to joining the Prime Ministers and other business leaders to discuss how the Single Economic Market (SEM) agenda can assist Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to thrive in the trans-Tasman economy and beyond. This year marks 15 years of the SEM so today’s meeting is a good opportunity to take stock of progress and consider what more remains to be done".

The Hon Scott Morrison MP is visiting Auckland to take part in the annual bilateral Leaders’ Meeting with Prime Minister Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern.

ANZLF Co-chair, Ann Sherry AO, said "we also look forward to briefing the Prime Ministers in preparation for the 13th Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum meeting that will take place in Auckland on 13th September 2019. That will be an important occasion to bring together a wider group of leading representatives of business and government to help Australia and New Zealand prosper."

Adrian Littlewood said, "today’s meeting is an opportunity to brief the Prime Ministers on the ANZLF’s interests in areas such as infrastructure, tourism, innovation, health technology and indigenous business amongst others. We will table recommendations on these areas at the Forum in September."

Background

The Australia New Zealand Leadership Forum (ANZLF) combines Australian and New Zealand leaders from government and business to discuss how the two countries can prosper together in the global economy. The ANZLF is led by Australian and New Zealand co-chairs, and guided by an annual work programme of business-led activities, and government advocacy. At the last ANZLF meeting in Sydney in March 2018, the ANZLF Indigenous Business Sector Group was established with the endorsement of the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers.
