Eight360 is launching a VR revolution

Wellington-based Eight360 announces today the launch of their flagship product, NOVA, a unique motion simulator platform that combines the latest VR technology with a fully moving ‘cockpit’, creating high-tech Virtual Reality (VR) experiences like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

The NOVA is a world-first, completely untethered VR motion platform that is unlike anything else available. The spherical design offers truly unlimited rotation in any direction, over and over and over again. This setup allows the NOVA to simulate a wide range of forces you would feel in a real aircraft (or other vehicle), propelling the user even deeper into the experience... So whether you’re doing a barrel roll in a jet fighter or going through-the-loop on a roller-coaster, the full range of motion brings a whole new level of realness to the ride.

Founder Terry Miller says this was a project he was born to do. “I’ve always been passionate about technology and all the gizmos and gadgets, so getting into VR was a no-brainer - it's about as futuristic and high-tech as it gets!”. Terry also wants to inspire other young inventors to go out and create something, “starting is always the hardest part but it's also exciting, you never know where you’ll end up. This whole thing is basically a garage project that got out of hand”.

This kicks off an exciting year for the Eight360 team, who have just moved into new premises in Wellington’s Mount Cook. They are currently hard at work constructing the first commercial NOVA units, with an official unveiling planned in the next few months. They invite interested parties to contact them for more information, or even book in a demo to experience it for themselves.
