Refactor North to highlight inspiring woman in STEM

Northland will next week have the opportunity to hear from talented women currently working in science, technology, engineering and maths industries.

The 2019 Refactor North event is taking place at the Whangarei Art Museum from 6pm on May 16, where locals can hear from a number of inspiring women leaders. The Whangarei session is part of a not for profit event series, says Lisa Sutherland of Refactor North.

“Refactor encourages, supports and motivates women working in, or passionate about STEM fields. It is designed to highlight amazing women who tell their stories is a way of inspiring and building resilience in others. Plus it brings a growing community of women together for an enjoyable event,” she says.

Sharing stories to inspire women to embark or continue in careers technology, engineering and the sciences is an important part of encouraging diversity in these industries, a cause that Northpower Network General Manager Josie Boyd is passionate about.

“Refactor is a great platform for women to highlight different career paths, how they dealt with challenges along the way and to inspire the new generation of women into these fields – that’s why we are delighted to support this event in Whangarei,” says Mrs Boyd.

“Northland has some very successful women leaders and Refactor North is an opportunity to hear from some stand-out performers in their respective fields.”

The Refactor event last year was a sell-out, which is why the event has moved to a larger venue this year, but get in quick to secure your tickets.

Featured speakers for the 2019 event are; Cassie McAdams - Investment Manager, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise; Tammy Auranen - Group Manager Digital, Northpower Limited and Frances Valintine (CNZM) - Founder & CEO, The Mind Lab & Tech Futures Lab.
