Relief for Kapiti Builders

4 September 2011

Relief for Kapiti Builders

There are signs of relief for the Kapiti building industry, according to the latest figures from Statistics New Zealand. The number and value of new dwelling consents issued in the district for August increased to 17, up from 11 for July and 10 for August last year.

The Kapiti increase is consistent with the nationwide figures as there was a lift across the country in general, including a huge increase in Christchurch.

It’s been no secret that the builders in Kapiti have been suffering in recent times as a result of the slow real estate market and economy in general, so this is good news as far as they are concerned and hopefully a small sign that better times are just around the corner for us all.

Charts presenting the trends and monthly comparisons are published online in the Facts & Figures pages at www.realestateinkapiti.co.nz and the raw data is available at www.stats.govt.nz
