Accountants strip off for Nude-Noggin Friday

Auckland and Wellington go head-to-head

As proud egg heads, staff from PwC Auckland and Wellington will strip and shave off their hair tomorrow in a Wellington vs. Auckland ‘Nude-Noggin Friday’ challenge to see who can raise the most money for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.

The PwC event is part of the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation’s annual Shave for a Cure fundraiser and is a way for New Zealanders to demonstrate their solidarity with those living with leukaemia and other blood cancers. Many patients suffer hair loss as a result of life-saving treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

In Auckland, shavees will shed their hair in the lobby of PricewaterhouseCoopers Tower on Quay Street from 5pm on Friday 11 November.

Shavee and PwC Markets Partner Bruce Baillie has volunteered to strip off more than his head hair in a show of solidarity with bald but hairy staff.

“At PwC we do not discriminate against the follicly challenged. We want everyone to be able to participate in this fundraiser, whether they have head hair or not.

“Luckily, some of our people have an overabundance of body hair. So, we’re giving our hairy men the option of stripping it all off so they can be part of this great event to raise funds for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.”

Mr Baillie will lead a team of staff who will have their torsos body painted, and some will also have their hair coloured and head hair shaved.

In Wellington, the shavees believe they can head off the Auckland challenge by reaching their $20,000 fundraising target. PwC Wellington’s Nude-Noggin Friday fundraiser will start at 5pm in the reception area on level 16 of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Tower, The Terrace.

Leukaemia & Blood Foundation Executive Director Pru Etcheverry says “I love the fun that the team has with our Shave for a Cure fundraiser.

“PwC always delights us with their bold and cheeky take on the event. As the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation’s largest fundraising event, we’re so grateful that PwC keep coming up with new and innovative ways to support Shave.”

Over the past nine years, PwC has helped raise more than $550,00o for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation so it can support the more than 10,000 people, and their families, who live with leukaemia and other blood cancers.

About the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation

The LBF is the only organisation in New Zealand dedicated to supporting patients and their families living with leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma and related blood conditions.

Every day six children and adults in New Zealand are diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood condition, the equivalent of around 2200 New Zealanders a year.

The funds raised go towards the LBF’s Support Services Programme to provide core services – patient support, information & education, awareness, advocacy and research.
