Hawaii a hot prediction for a 2013 holiday

Hawaii a hot prediction for a 2013 holiday

Hawaii is picked to rate amongst the top selling holiday destinations in 2013 for Kiwis.

"Hawaii is riding high and on track to becoming a hot holiday destination after a 15 year hiatus from the Kiwi travel itinerary," says Andie Smith, Harvey World Travel Marketing Manager.

"This is due to a combination of factors including rivalry between airlines resulting in competitive airfare prices - spurred by Hawaii’s national carrier Hawaiian Airlines arriving in New Zealand skies in March this year with direct Hawaii flights. Add to this the favourable exchange rate, an excellent range of accommodation, and the added bonus of making Hawaii a stopover for a USA trip and you've got a great holiday."

Hawaiian Airlines also further upped the competition by currently offering child airfare prices for up to16-year-olds.

Andie says she wouldn't be surprised if Kiwi arrival numbers into Hawaii those into South Pacific destinations such as Rarotonga by the end of the year.

Bali is also firmly back on the hot list for Kiwi travellers in 2013, with Air New Zealand flying direct again this year following high demand for last year's seasonal flights, the same goes for the Sunshine Coast direct flights, which are back again over the peak summer months.

Further afield Andie cites Vietnam as a popular 2013 destination with Sri Lanka making a surprise debut this year. Lonely Planet, in its book 'Best in Travel 2013' hails Sri Lanka as a "cut-price paradise back on the map" that is best for "culture, off the beaten track, value for money".

"While you can hold onto that blissful post summer holiday feeling for a few weeks yet, once that disappears the best panacea is to plan your next holiday. And with Harvey World Travel’s one-day, book-in-store-only holiday deals on February 16 it's a great time to book your next escape," Andie says.

"The beauty of the in-store expo is that customers can talk face-to-face with their local Harvey World Travel Professional about their holiday and they don't have to wait in long queues surrounded by masses of people. I don't think Kiwis will take much encouragement to snap up the great holiday deals, especially those in the sun."

Harvey World Travel has 51 stores throughout the country, stretching from Whangarei in the north to Dunedin in the south.
