Straterra on the resignation of Solid Energy Chief Executive

4 February 2013

Straterra chairman responds to the resignation of Solid Energy Chief Executive, Don Elder

The decision made by Solid Energy Chief Executive, Dr Don Elder, to resign today cannot have been easy, says Straterra Chairman, Mark Cadzow, the Chief Development Officer at OceanaGold.

“Having worked with Don as part of the board of Straterra, I am thankful to him for his hard work in our mining and minerals industry not just as the Chief Executive Officer of Solid Energy but as a forward-thinking champion for the industry. I’m sure we will continue to enjoy that support in future.

“For now, however, he has made some very difficult decisions to ensure that Solid Energy – a company he is passionate about - continues to thrive as our largest coal miner and we totally respect his stance on this and wish him well.”

Background:

Straterra represents the New Zealand minerals and mining industry and its membership comprises producers, explorers, engineering and geotechnical firms, scientific research institutions and providers of auxiliary services such as legal and accounting.
