Crowne Plaza Queenstown makes two key management appointments

Crowne Plaza Queenstown has strengthened its local management team with two key sales and marketing appointments this week (February 8 2013).

The award-winning hotel has lured experienced tourism heavyweight Kylie Walker to the team as Sales and Marketing Manager as a measure of its renewed investment in its Queenstown operation.

Ms Walker has more than 20 years’ experience in the sales, marketing and tourism industries and joins the company from Air New Zealand Holidays where she was the Queenstown manager.

Previously she was Regional Development Manager for the Tourism Exchange, a national tourism marketing and distribution company, and spent seven years at Millbrook Resort as International Sales Manager and in a range of senior operational roles.

“Crowne Plaza Queenstown is an iconic property and I’m fortunate to be joining a fabulous team which is committed to its success,” said Ms Walker.

Alongside Ms Walker, Lisa Ellerton has been promoted to the role of Crowne Meetings Director as part of the hotel’s commitment to maintaining consistency within its business and supporting staff to ‘move through the ranks’.

Ms Ellerton started her tourism career in 1997 with Swallow International Hotel Group in the UK, joined Crowne Plaza Queenstown in December 2007 as a food and beverage attendant and worked her way up to restaurant supervisor before moving into the banquets team.

As the hotel’s key contact for the MICE (Meetings Incentive Conference and Events) market, Ms Ellerton said she was looking forward to the new challenge and working alongside Ms Walker to drive conference business and enhance the meetings product at the hotel.
