ANZ opens seven-day branch in Rotorua Central Mall

ANZ today celebrated the opening of its branch at Rotorua Central Mall and extended opening hours to seven days.

The opening was attended by MP for Waiariki Te Ururoa Flavell, Rotorua District Council Mayor Kevin Winters, Chairman of the Pukeroa Trust Malcolm Short, local kaumatua, ANZ staff and members of the Rotorua community.

A traditional Haka Pohiri was performed by local tribe Te Arawa, in particular Ngati Whakaue, as guests entered the new branch.

ANZ Rotorua Mall replaces the ANZ on Hinemoa Street, which closed last Friday, and was open five days a week. All staff members have relocated to the new branch.

ANZ is the only bank to have two full service branches in Rotorua, with the Fenton Street National Bank in the process of being rebranded ANZ.

“When the ANZ and National Bank brands came together, we made the promise to provide the best service and be in the best locations for our customers,” said Martine Milicich, ANZ Regional General Manager for Retail.

“In Rotorua, we’ve had two branches for a long time, but movements in the location of retailers and businesses means that we’ll able to provide more choice and convenience to a greater number of our customers with our new branch location.”

ANZ Rotorua Mall, which is currently recruiting to accommodate the two extra opening days, will soon have a staff of 29, including a branch manager and assistant, 15 service consultants, seven personal bankers, including four lending specialists, and five business banking staff.

“We want to give our customers flexibility to choose where and how they do their banking,” said Branch Manager Tony Wolsey.

“Our new branch has a 24/7 lobby that customers can access by swiping their EFTPOS card, with an intelligent ATM that accepts deposits and cheques, as well as enabling withdrawals.”

ANZ is investing $100 million over the next two years to ensure it has a well-positioned and attractive branch network for customers. This means it will go from having branches in 75% of places where Kiwis live to almost 90%.

The new branch design represents the best of both ANZ and National Bank, and includes new technology to help make service more efficient, and a children’s TV area.
