Shane Michael of James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor Named Outstanding Young Hotel Executive of the Year

Shane Michael, Concierge Manager at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, has been named the Outstanding Young Hotel Executive of the year for 2013 at the Hotel Industry Conference dinner held in Auckland last night.

The Hotel Industry Awards are presented at the annual New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference. The Outstanding Young Hotel Executive of the Year award recognizes the dedication and hard-work of a young person in the hotel industry. It commends the exceptional contributions they have made to their employer in the past year.

Shane started work at the hotel part-time while studying. Shane completed his studies in 2012 with a degree in Hospitality Management and was promoted to Concierge Manager soon after.

Shane is a natural ‘people person’ with a good knowledge of Wellington which is essential for a Concierge. He has an awesome positive attitude and is always willing to help our guests, anticipating their needs and dealing with any queries with a high level of professionalism, confidence and charisma.

The next goal for Shane is to gain his ‘Golden Keys’ and gain membership into Hotel Concierge Society Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand
