Technology for tots!

Technology for tots!

Acorn Kids Childcare have brought in some exciting new technology that allows family members to receive daily online updates on just how their child is doing.

Just how this works is that the staff at Acorn Kids use iPads to capture fun and interesting activities of each child during the day and then instantly post them, along with some text, through a secure network straight to a parent's or other family members phone or pc.

This means that each day the child's family are getting to share in some of the fun their child is having while maintaining the peace of mind that their child is being well cared for. They get an immediate insight into what their little one is doing right at that time!

One of Acorns parents Simon Neill says "I have found it very helpful in finding out about what Ella has been up to and find it easier to read and like to share the pictures with her. We sit together at the end of most days and look and talk about what she has been up to. I think this has really allowed me to see more of what she is up to and to keep in touch with her busy Acorn life.” Another child's Aunty living overseas says “For me being so far away (Raratonga) it is great being able to see Uriah doing different activities, and see who is teaching him. It makes you feel a part of it all. Very Special … we get to see his development”.

Just who receives the update is first determined by the child's parents and can include grandma and grandad, while others can be easily added. It is important to note that only those who have been set up for that child will receive updates on them.

Not only does this give a great snapshot of what their child is up to but it also helps form a record of their time at Acorn. In this modern and fast paced world of online communication, who would have thought even our most youngest would benefit!
