Wellington Airport congratulates Jetstar on five years

Media Release - Wellington Airport congratulates Jetstar on five years of domestic services

The very first Jetstar domestic flight landed in Wellington from Auckland on 10 June 2009 and since that time it has gone on to operate up to 150 flights per week out of Wellington.

“We are thrilled that Jetstar has reached such an impressive milestone and are very proud to have been a part of what they have achieved– Jetstar’s growth and consistent low fares have been great for Wellington travellers,” said Steve Sanderson, Wellington Airport’s Chief Executive.

“Last year Jetstar increased their capacity on Wellington’s most popular routes and we expect the airline to carry more than one million passengers to and from the Capital over the next year.”

That increase means Jetstar provides a business friendly schedule that has created even more choice for travellers and has stimulated demand.

“We would like to thank Jetstar for their important role in growing connections throughout New Zealand for holidays, business, education and people visiting friends and families.”

“Jetstar have worked really hard on their customer service and have had the best on-time performance for 2013. These efforts will see them well into the future.”
