Summit to Consider Farming Within Environmental Limits

Summit to Consider Farming Within Environmental Limits

The 2016 New Zealand Primary Industry Summit will once again provide farm and business leaders with the opportunity to consider sustainability and environmental issues.

This years programme includes sessions that will tackle the hottest topics in the industry including the TPPA, sustainability, smart branding and marketing, and foreign investment. A highlight for those interested in sustainability will be a session delivered on day two by Fish & Game New Zealand's Environmental Manager Corina Jordan entitled 'Farming within environmental limits.'

Understanding where New Zealand’s problems lie is a key starting point. Corina will then consider a number of ways we can improve our environmental sustainability, which will involve delving into allocation frameworks and their role in determining both market success and sustainability. Finally Corina will highlight practical steps that can be taken to achieve the best possible result for farmers, managers and the environment.

Adding value to our primary produce has been a major discussion point for a number of years and many of our brightest business leaders are showing the way. Why New Zealand needs to focus on quality over quantity is explained by David Cole CEO Mt Cook Alpine Salmon. He will talk about the value of developing a prestige brand that captures overseas attention and ensures Mt Cook Alpine Salmon stays ahead of the market.

This years event will take place 23 - 24 May at the Wharewaka Function Centre, Wellington. Online registration is still available at - www.conferenz.co.nz/conferences/2016-primary-industry-summit
