Congratulations to Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), winner of the MinterEllisonRuddWatts Excellence in Governance award announced at last night’s Deloitte Top 200 Awards gala dinner.

Award judge and Chair of MinterEllisonRuddWatts, Cathy Quinn says ACC stood out for its work towards improved financial performance and stronger stakeholder relationships.

"ACC demonstrated business excellence through its marked turnaround in bother performance and public perception," says Cathy Quinn.

"The award reflects the work done by both the current Board led by Dame Paula Rebstock and the previous Board led by John Judge. It is an example of how different teams positively contribute to an organisation’s success providing the opportunity for an organisation to go from strength to strength.

"ACC is accountable to all New Zealanders - everyone contributes and everyone wants value so its effort to improve governance practice is essential for the country’s ongoing prosperity."

The Excellence in Governance Award recognises outstanding performance in organisational governance, with the award winner evaluated against criteria determined with the Institute of Directors and aligned with the New Zealand Securities Commission Corporate Governance Principles and Guidelines.

"Judging the very best in New Zealand business is both humbling and daunting," says Cathy Quinn.
