Growth in ethnically diverse business community

Media release: Conference drives growth in New Zealand’s ethnically diverse business community

15 May 2017 – The Office of Ethnic Communities is excited to announce this years’ Ethnic People in Commerce (EPIC) NZ conference, to be held in Auckland on 30 June at the Sky City Convention Centre. Diversity is a reality for New Zealand – is your business ready to unlock its benefits?

EPIC NZ is an annual conference which celebrates the strength of New Zealand's growing and diverse business community, and has previously been attended by more than 300 people each year.

This year’s conference theme is The New Zealand business story: best practice, better business. The benefits of innovation and diversity will be highlighted during keynote, panel and interactive discussions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage and connect directly with government agencies and New Zealand business leaders at networking segments throughout the event.

A range of diverse speakers, from established businesses through to start-ups, will discuss their personal experiences in embracing technology, innovation and diversity to grow their businesses.

“Disruption is here, from digital to diversity. Yet for many small businesses it is not on their radar, as they are too busy being in the business to keep up with the speed of change. Conference attendees will hear from other ethnically diverse businesses about how they can embrace new business models, technologies and new ways of thinking,” says Diana Solomon, Manager, at the Office of Ethnic Communities.

“EPIC NZ provides an opportunity for New Zealand’s ethnically diverse business community to make valuable connections with local and international business leaders and government agencies.”

“New Zealand is an ethnically diverse country. We have over 200 ethnic groups, speaking more than 160 languages, and one in four people are migrants, which means getting the best out of diversity is essential for any business to grow and succeed,” adds Diana Solomon.

Attendees will hear how to make the most of New Zealand’s business environment and what opportunities and challenges are on the horizon.

“Bringing together a range of knowledge, skills and perspectives will inspire other ethnically diverse businesses to understand what they can do to grow their business to compete better in New Zealand and internationally,” says Diana Solomon.

Registrations open next week, and we welcome your interest, particularly if you are part of the increasingly dynamic and ethnically diverse business community throughout New Zealand.

This is your opportunity to learn and innovate so your business can thrive. For more information go to Office of Ethnic Communities website, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
