Project International Trade leads way in trade mission to NZ

London, 2nd February - The Emerging Payment Association’s (EPA) Project International Trade team will join The Lord Mayor in a trade mission to Australia and New Zealand this month. Suresh Vaghjiani, Managing Director at Global Processing Services who sits on the Project International Trade team, will accompany the FinTech and business delegation - led by the Rt Hon Lord Mayor, Alderman Charles Bowman. Suresh will represent the EPA as the UK’s leading community of payments influencers and thought leaders, and provide insight and expertise to an audience of Australia and New Zealand’s emerging FinTechs.

The visit will champion the UK as a hub for innovation in FinTech and cybersecurity, as well as the UK’s influence in asset management and green finance. The eight-day trade mission will encompass a coterie of activities including round table and panel discussions, innovation showcases, briefing events, and site tours. The trade mission’s activities will culminate in a dinner with business leaders and will provide a briefing to the delegation on the current business and political landscape in Australia, and the opportunities for UK PLC within the market.

Project International Trade, supported by EPA Benefactor Saxo Payments Banking Circle, encourages trade with non-EU target markets in the payments industry. Project International Trade delivers this through a programme of education, creating international trade channels, and engaging with UK and international governmental bodies and embassies. It has led delegations of UK PayTech companies in trade missions to China, Mexico and Serbia and has hosted a conference in Belgrade – funded by the Department for International Trade (DIT) and ERDF’s Global Growth Project. The project has been endorsed by Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, for its accomplishments in supporting and promoting international trade.

Anders la Cour, CEO of Saxo Payments Banking Circle and EPA Advisory Board member, added: “It is vital that there are no barriers to international trade and the work of the Emerging Payments Association is vital in providing a platform for shared knowledge and expertise across the globe. We are at a critical juncture in terms of growth in the emerging FinTech sector and it’s crucial that everything possible is done to help businesses wanting to enter this marketplace – wherever they are in the world.”
