Check in Times Slashed with Self-Service Kiosks

Check in Times Slashed as Self-Service Kiosks Redefine Hire Car Industry

Meeting the growing demand for time-saving travel hacks is behind the introduction of self-service kiosks at GO Rentals branches, where check in times have been reduced by up to 60%.

Kiosks were initially in place at Auckland Airport and Christchurch branches and have now been rolled out across all GO Rentals branches nationwide this year, following a successful soft launch that saw over 6,000 check-in processes completed by travelers from around the world.

In collaboration with Auckland-based Fingermark Digital Technologies, the kiosk experience was created to fast-track the check in process without compromising important information exchange. Aspects such as license scanning software and intuitive customer compliance steps have seen check in times reduced significantly.

GO Rentals Managing Director, James Dalglish, says the insatiable customer appetite for innovation is pushing the brand into new territory without losing sight of those with more traditional preferences.

“Delivering the best possible customer experience is at the core of our business and this ground-breaking technology means we can continue to innovate the way we interact with our customers well ahead of what we see our competitors doing,” said Mr Dalglish.

“While uptake on the kiosks has exceeded our expectations, we know that some people still prefer a face-to-face option so we continue to have our customer service experts on hand to check you in or help with any kiosk questions.”

The GO Rentals mobile app is also experiencing strong traction, emerging as a leading booking channel, challenging desktop and mobile web, seeing double digit growth in airport shuttle requests and providing ongoing information and support for drivers. Over 20,000 downloads have occurred since the app was launched in 2017.

“The app combined with the self-service kiosk creates a seamless transaction for our customers and we expect to see significant growth in the use of both innovations as our business expands.”

Launched in 1999, GO Rentals started with only a handful of vehicles and one location. 19 years later, GO Rentals has the largest independent car hire fleet in New Zealand with a huge selection of late model vehicles to suit every kind of road trip. Multi-award winning customer service staff and systems ensure drivers enjoy their hire experience every time.

As the only car hire company in the country to be awarded consecutive Qualmark Gold status for sustainable business practices and the winner of the Canstar Blue Customer Satisfaction Award 2018 with a clean-sweep across all categories, GO Rentals continues to lead the industry in sustainability, innovation and driver experience.
