Emirates driving Ryder Cup action

Emirates, an Official Partner of The 2018 Ryder Cup, will be in the thick of the action this weekend when the world’s top golfers from Europe and the United States, two of the six continents the airline serves, compete for the most coveted golf trophy in men’s team tournament play.

The Ryder Cup matches take place from 28th-30th September at Le Golf National in the French capital, Paris, which Emirates serves with its popular A380 aircraft three times a day, with connections at its Dubai hub from its daily Auckland and Christchurch flights. In addition to Paris, Emirates also serves France with a daily A380 flight to Nice, and a daily flight to Lyon with a Boeing 777, both connecting with New Zealand services.

Emirates, became an Official Partner of The 2018 Ryder Cup when the airline and the European Tour renewed their existing European Tour Agreement in September last year for four years until 2021.

Amongst other top players, this year’s Ryder Cup also features all of the world’s current top ten ranked players for the first time since 1986, with Europe fielding World Number Two Justin Rose, Rory McIIroy (6), Francesco Molinari (5) and Jon Rahm (8), while the US team has World Number 1 Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, (3), Justin Thomas (4), Bryson DeChambeau (7), Rickie Fowler (9) and Jordan Spieth (10), within its ranks.

This provides a highly visible platform for the Emirates brand, and for us to be a part of the action and share in the excitement of fans and golfers alike,” said Boutros Boutros, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand.

As an Official Partner of The 2018 Ryder Cup, Emirates will have a strong branding presence at the tournament and across various media and communication touch points, as well as VIP hospitality and ticketing rights. Emirates will also be able to offer fans at the event a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch The Ryder Cup from inside the ropes, giving close up access and views of the action.

Emirates customers across all cabin classes will be also be able to catch the golf action live on Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra, now available on over 170 Emirates aircraft.

The other events which Emirates sponsors as part of its agreement with the European Tour, include the BMW PGA Championship, the Nordea Masters, the D+D Real Czech Masters, the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, the Portugal Masters, the Italian Open, the Joburg Open, and the BMW SA Open hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni, with the Race to Dubai culminating in the DP World Championship in Dubai in November.
