Third quarter pokie statistics released

The latest quarterly statistics on pokies in pubs and clubs released by the Department of Internal Affairs continue recent trends with increasing gaming machine profits but a decreasing number of gaming machines and venues.

The headline statistics for June to September 2018 show:

• $235 million in gaming machine profits, $7.74 million or 3.4 per cent higher than the $227 million for the same period last year.

• 1130 venues, 33 or 2.8 per cent fewer than the 1163 at the same period last year.

• 15,342 gaming machines, 375 or 2.4 per cent fewer than the 15,717 at the same period last year.
