Local advertisers and agencies delighted at support from World Federation of Advertisers

The Association of New Zealand Advertisers (ANZA), and the Commercial Communications Council (Comms Council), welcome the World Federation of Advertisers’ (WFA), call “for all brands globally to hold social media platforms to account in the light of recent failures to block dangerous and hateful content”. Comms Council CEO Paul Head said, “The New Zealand advertising community, both clients and agencies, began a campaign for change from social media platforms and much greater content control following the horrific events in Christchurch. We are delighted that our message is being heard, and acted upon around the world”.

ANZA CEO Lindsay Mouat said, “All along we realised that global support, from regulators, business and the wider community would be necessary for social media to change their approach to content moderation. That the international advertiser community is responding to our call is heartening and, we believe, will be the catalyst for change”.
