Lotto NZ’s 30th Millionaire This Year Wins On A Bonus Ticket

A woman from Lower Hutt has become Lotto NZ’s 30th millionaire in 2025 after winning $1 million with Lotto First Division on a bonus ticket.

The MyLotto player, who wishes to remain anonymous, couldn’t believe her eyes on Sunday morning when she saw an email from Lotto NZ Customer Support saying she had won a prize.

“My first thought was ‘this can’t be real,’ you don’t want to get your hopes up because you never expect things like this to happen to you,” said the woman.

Logging into her MyLotto account, she watched her ticket pop up and the virtual draw play.

“It happened very quickly, and it was still early in the morning, so I wasn’t sure what I was seeing was correct.”

The woman asked a family member to double check it for her.

“I showed her my phone and even she said, ‘hold on a minute – I better get my other glasses,’” she said.

“When she realised I had won a $1 million, she was so excited and started congratulating me, but I was still in disbelief – I just couldn’t believe I’d won it…and on a bonus ticket too!”

The woman has spent the last few days letting the news sink in and thinking about her future.

“I’m going to invest for my future. This win is security for me and my children and means I can rest easy.

“Nothing is going to change in my life right now – though I might start splurging on coffees from the café instead of settling for instant,” she laughed.
