Matterhorn Gigs: The Island of Manuel

The Island of Manuel

Manuel Bundy is a nice man. If you met him, you¹d agree, if you could get close enough to say hello...Not easy, he seems to be always surrounded by a flock of DJs trying to get a look in his record bag.

Manuel won best hip hop DJ at the 1999 B-net awards, which is a tribute to his maaad skills, but doesn¹t give full credit for his selections.

Manuel transcends the label DJ as a consummate turntable percussionist and improviser. His DJ bag is packed with house, soul, drum and bass, hip hop funk, Latin which he blends together with a hip hop styling.

Manuel¹s crafting collaborations have recently seen him take to the studio with Mark De Clive Lowe and Imon Star as Nuvonesia, their debut album ŒIsland of Nuvonesia¹ will be released on Kog Transmissions and their first EP smack delicious/transcontinental drops worldwide mid-year also (www.nuvonesia.com).

Manuel Bundy plays a monthly residency at The Matterhorn, yet plays twice in June (something to do with the rugby).

Secure your place in the Matterhorn garden this Saturday the 3rd, and again on the last Saturday in June (24th). If you get the chance, pop up to the DJ booth and give him a big smile, I guarantee you¹ll get one back, that is if he can see you through his disciples.
