Pizza Hut had 65% of the growing pizza delivery and takeaway business, and had established a home-delivery base enabling it to provide a wider range of products. Beer and wine would start in the next three to six months, with applications for licences already lodged, and energy drinks and snacks would follow. http://www.stuff.co.nz/inl/index/0,1008,596100a1934,FF.html

COURTROOM STORM BREWING An international beer battle that has been brewing for more than 100 years is set to come to a head in the High Court at Wellington this year. The American beer barons Anheuser-Busch and Czech brewers Budejovicky Budvar have been going head to head in courts round the world over the use of the name Budweiser Budvar and the presentation of the two companies' products. Both companies brew a beer that uses those names. http://www.stuff.co.nz/inl/index/0,1008,600510a1700,FF.html

THIS CZECH'S FOR YOU You may have read about the worldwide legal battles between Anheuser-Busch of the United States and Budejovicky Budvar of the Czech Republic over the right to sell beer by the name of Budweiser. To recount the ongoing trademark conflict would turn this two-minute beer primer into a two-day Supreme Court brief. Do a search in the Real Beer Page Library and you'll find hundreds of articles to read. http://www.realbeer.com/library/beerbreak/archives/beerbreak20001214.html

BREWERS IN TAX BATTLE AUSTRALIA'S biggest brewers launched legal action against the Federal Government yesterday to claw back more than $100 million in disputed beer excise. The brewers have promised to hand the money back to the community if they win their case. A defeat for the Government could also blow a hole in Treasurer Peter Costello's GST windfall. http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,1625521%255E421,00.html and http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,1624139%255E421,00.html and http://www.heraldsun.com.au/common/story_page/0,4511,1624084%255E662,00.ht ml

Howard Davis Article: A Musical Axis - Brahms, Wagner, Sibelius
