The Vodafone Warriors Take Two Against the Raiders

Auckland, New Zealand, May 22, 2001 – With the NRL season now at its halfway point, the Vodafone Warriors are set to take on the Canberra Raiders for the second time in 2001.

The Vodafone Warriors will be looking to avenge their round one defeat to the Raiders, as well as regain lost ground after a disappointing loss to the Queensland Cowboys.

Sitting in tenth position on the NRL points table, Coach Daniel Anderson says his team are determined to deliver a credible effort this Saturday. Despite a last minute change in venue, Anderson believes the Raiders will be at full strength.

“The Raiders are a great team and we have enormous respect for them. They are going to be tough to beat, especially in their own back yard.

“But we’ve got a good team and skill base too – discipline and consistency in utilising those skills is what we need to concentrate on to turn games around.

“We have been disappointed with our last two games, we made mistakes where we shouldn’t have and we’ve paid for those errors. We’ll be sorry if we make mistakes against the Raiders, ” says Anderson.

With tight game scheduling and the absence of co-captain Kevin Campion’s steadying influence, the Vodafone Warriors are guaranteed a tough game. Depending on the judiciary’s decision regarding the disputed grading of a careless high tackle against Cowboys forward Michael Luck, Campion could also miss the forthcoming home-game against the Northern Eagles.
