NZ – Home Of The Newest Hard Rock In The World

The newest Hard Rock Cafe in the world officially opened in Queenstown last Friday, 22 June.

The champagne flowed, the red carpet was rolled out and Diesel hit the Hard Rock Cafe by storm playing chart toppers like Tip of My Tongue and Man Alive.

Guests at the exclusive party got a first glimpse of the restaurant’s tens of thousands of dollars of famous rock memorabilia sourced from around the world. Jimi Hendrix’s shirt and guitar, Madonna’s blouse, other items belonging to Eric Clapton, INXS and Elton John took pride of place in secure glass units.

The Hard Rock Cafe Queenstown, which is also the first Cafe in New Zealand, was packed out by more than 300 guests, including special guest appearances by Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon.

Otago MP Gavan Herlihy officially declared the Hard Rock Cafe open.

This official opening marks the 30th anniversary year of the international brand.
Proceeds from the evening went to Variety – The Children’s Charity.
