Tri TV screens internationally popular jazz show


Triangle Television screens internationally popular jazz show

Triangle Television is now screening Jazz Alley TV, the world's longest running jazz, blues and world music magazine television series.

Jazz Alley TV goes to air daily in the US to more than 20 million households. It is the programme of choice for dedicated jazz and blues fans and has already won a strong following from jazz fans in New Zealand many of whom are tuning into Triangle especially to catch the popular show.

Jazz Alley TV has collected a raft of awards, among them the Billboard Music Awards. The show is shot on location at premiere music festivals around the world and currently screens in more than 40 countries.

The one-hour show airs on Triangle at 9am and 8pm on Sundays and is a permanent fixture on Triangle Television's programme schedule. Viewers can see performances from their favorite jazz, blues and 'world music' musicians' plus videos and in-depth interviews with host Kenny Burgmaier.

Coming up on Triangle, Jazz Alley TV will feature the Snowmass Jazz Festival (June 15); the Florida Jazz Festival (June 22) and artist David Amram (June 29)

The next month features Main Street Jazz. July 6 highlights stars who performed with such jazz legends as Woody Herman, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, and the Dorsey Brothers. On July 13 headliner Clark Terry performs with father and son duo Bucky and John Pizzarelli, and on July 20 Clark Terry and Red Rodney are back to star as trumpeters.

The July 27 show - National Arts "That's Jazz" - looks at the history of jazz and how it has evolved to where it is today. Ken Burgmaier founded Jazz Alley TV in Denver, Colorado 1991 and his ability to produce quality shows of consistency and high quality have won the series exposure on CNN, ABC, PBS and Home Box Office.

Triangle Television is Auckland's only regional, non-commercial television station and has operated as a public broadcaster to Greater Auckland since August 1 1998.
