Michael Cooper Joins Cuisine Team

Award winning wine author and columnist Michael Cooper has joined Cuisine magazine as wine editor.

Sarah Sandley, general manager, Fairfax Magazines, says they are thrilled that someone of Michael’s standing is joining the team.

“Cuisine is the gold standard in the field of food and wine writing and with Michael we have secured New Zealand’s leading, independent authority on wine.

“Michael’s 25 years of researching, tasting and writing about New Zealand wines will provide Cuisine’s 359,000 readers with authoritative, independent guidance to New Zealand’s finest quality and best value wines.”

Michael is New Zealand’s most acclaimed wine writer with 25 books, hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles and five prestigious literary awards to his name including the 2003 Montana Medal for non fiction for his Wine Atlas of New Zealand. He was recently appointed as one of the four Trade New Zealand Ambassadors for New Zealand Food and Wine.

Cooper says the decision to join the Cuisine team was an easy one.

“I have watched with great interest the growth of Cuisine over the years as it’s become the “bible” for people passionate about great food and fine wines. My new role with Cuisine gives me the opportunity to share my love and knowledge of wine with a wider audience.

Cooper also believes he has a responsibility to provide Cuisine readers with an independent assessment of wines.

“Wineries are always keen to promote their wines, however there is a need to taste wines in a fair and objective manner to cut through the claims made by producers and track down quality wines.”

Cuisine Magazine
Recently named by the influential US magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, as “perhaps the best culinary magazine on earth”, Cuisine is read by more than 355,000 people in New Zealand and overseas. It is regarded as New Zealand’s leading wine, food and good living magazine.
