In this Coen brothers remake of the Peter Sellers-Alec Guinness original, Tom Hanks plays a Southern professor who organizes a gang of thieves to rob a riverboat casino. They set up shop in the root cellar of the house of an odd old lady. When she figures out what they're up to, the robbers decide she must be eliminated, but the woman isn't as easy to kill as they thought.
