Emerging artists celebrate their work

Students of Artstation are showing off their talent in November and December in a series of exhibitions to celebrate the results of a year’s hard work.

The exhibitions show a selection of work by students who have participated in painting and glass casting courses.

During the year students are encouraged to develop a professional and dedicated approach to their art through the development of a personal philosophy and practice.

Artstation manager John Eaden says, “The courses are designed for students who are committed to developing professionally as painters and glass artists. Many students then move on to tertiary institutions or organise their own exhibitions.”

The series starts with A Painter’s Progress, an exhibition by 12 students ranging from figurative and representational work to abstracts. This is followed by A Painter’s Studio, an eclectic collection of contemporary painting embracing the diversity of the year-long painter’s studio class. The series finishes with A Glass Studio, which shows a selection of 45 per cent lead crystal glass works including vessels and wall works.

Opening: 5pm on Monday 6 December

Artstation, Auckland City’s community visual arts facility, is located at the old police barracks, 1 Ponsonby Rd, Newton. It is easy to get to by public transport with the Link’s Artstation bus stop right outside.
