Take inspiration, passion, and practicality. Combine ingredients. Simmer. Serves 1.1 million.
ACP Media’s Taste magazine brings fresh approach to good food. In its biggest launch in 15 years, ACP Media today served up a sample of new food magazine Taste at a lunch function in Auckland. The order of the day was a glossy 156-page mock-up of the monthly magazine, showcasing highlights from the 100+ recipes and food ideas that will feature in each issue. Taste brings a fresh approach to good food, delivering everyday inspiration to meet the needs of New Zealand’s unfulfilled mainstream foodies. “
Taste delivers accessible inspiration, and responds to a large group of New Zealanders – 1.1 million people, or 62 percent of the population aged 14+ – who love to cook, who lead full, busy lives and have a ‘real’ approach to food. Our research tells us that currently these consumers aren’t provided for by existing food magazines,” said Debra Millar, ACP Media’s Group Publisher, Consumer Titles. “
Taste will cater to people at all stages of life. Mums and dads cooking for a hungry family mid-week, people preparing a casual weekend meal to share with friends, or anyone who wants to impress on a special occasion.
“While other titles tend to focus on the extremes of ‘gourmet’ or ‘instant’, Taste understands that on some days cooking is all about taking short cuts, while at other times it’s rewarding to spend a little more time in the kitchen. It caters to the ebb and flow of mainstream foodies’ demanding lifestyles.”
As well as offering a host of high impact food ideas that are low on effort, Taste profiles enterprising kiwis with a passion for food, whether they are growing it, cooking it or serving it up in restaurants and cafés. Taste will also have a user-friendly website with an extensive range of features designed to put inspirational ideas in reach on a daily basis.
“Taste’s comprehensive website will allow people to search for recipes, get answers on cooking queries, find out how to use a new ingredient they’ve just discovered at the supermarket, or request the recipe for a dish they’ve recently tried in a café.” Another innovative feature of Taste’s offering includes a weekly email to help readers plan their meals and shopping.
“The weekly email is a great example of how Taste is really responsive to people’s needs and helps make the seemingly difficult achievable. People will be referred to a weekly menu of dishes from the magazine and the email will tell them what they need to put on their shopping list to whip up these meals during the coming week.” The Editor of the magazine is Suzanne Dale, the former Deputy Editor of Next magazine. Taste will be published monthly, with the first 156-page issue going on sale on 1 August. The cover price for the new magazine will be $5.00. “
Taste is an exciting new title. It’s innovative, has a strong point of difference, and will heat up a competitive market. This is ACP Media’s biggest launch since Next magazine was brought to market in 1991 and we expect an enthusiastic response when it hits the stands in August,” said Debra Millar.
