Creative New Zealand welcomes Government's ongoing support for the arts
Today's Budget announcement that Creative New Zealand will receive additional funding reflects the Government's ongoing commitment to the arts of New Zealand and its recognition of their vital contribution to the economic and social wellbeing of this country, says Creative New Zealand Chair Peter Biggs.
"The additional funding will enable us to continue our work in strengthening the capability of key professional arts organisations, and also enhance our work in building audiences and markets for New Zealand's distinctive, vibrant arts," Mr Biggs says.
"New Zealand's performing arts sector works in a challenging environment and we particularly welcome the Government's acknowledgement of these challenges. We're also pleased that we can increase our capacity to undertake audience and market development initiatives, both nationally and internationally."
