Smirnoff Experience now brings Sasha to NZ!

Smirnoff Experience now brings Sasha to NZ!

The acclaimed global phenomenon, SMIRNOFF Experience™, is offering New Zealand party-goers another chance to celebrate one of the world’s best electronic DJs before 2005 draws to a close.

Just seven weeks after New Zealand's first ever SMIRNOFF Experience™, we're doing it all over again! SMIRNOFF Experience™ has been creating an ongoing programme of amazing electronic music events around the globe for the past five years, and New Zealand has really come to the party. After a super-successful Labour weekend gig with DJ extraordinaire John Digweed, round two sees SMIRNOFF Experience™ amping up for another fantastic night. On Friday 2nd December SMIRNOFF Experience™ brings you Sasha and Desyn Masiello at the St. James, Auckland. This will be an experience not to be missed.

“We are very excited to be able to bring New Zealanders such an internationally renowned DJ as part of the SMIRNOFF Experience™. Sasha is a true legend in his field and will really push the event and the dancefloor to the next level,” says Charlotte Paulin, SMIRNOFF Experience™ Brand Manager. “If you missed the first Smirnoff Experience, make sure this date is firmly locked in your calendar. Sasha will ensure a mind-blowing event of all night long partying!”

There are DJs who turn up, play records and make people dance. And there are producers who make the dancefloor-igniting records those DJs will kill for. There are very few people in dance music who can do both and UK Dj / producer Sasha is the leader of the pack. Ever since he rode in on a tidal wave of adoration from the UK's explosive early 90s club scene, that magic touch has made Sasha one of the most famous, most revered DJs on the planet, arriving on the cover of music magazines & Billboard new artists charts whilst reaching compilation & artist album sales in excess of 100,000 units & revolutionising the concept of Dj touring.

Sasha’s 2005 Tour serves as the introduction of a new piece of technology inside the booth – MAVEN his one of a kind, custom designed MIDI controller. Creating a 100% digital experience using this controller, an Apple laptop, and Ableton Live software, Sasha will be leaving the turntables behind. The controller allows Sasha not only to exhibit his stellar track selection and mixing skills( including combining up to 6 individual tunes simultaneously ), but to literally re-edit every track he is playing in real-time. With the ability to sample, loop, and fuse elements from multiple songs at once through digital technology, Sasha is truly revolutionizing the traditional notion of DJ performance & remixing / remaking / re-editing compositions for each & every event.

Sasha says, “It’s not really a new way of DJ’ing, it’s more like a new option of a way of DJ’ing and live remixing, kind of a ‘mashup’ between the DJ and the live artist. But in the end what comes out of the speakers is still a DJ set. There are so many things I have always wanted to do with my DJ sets, but the technology was limited. With the Maven and Live software there are a million things that I am now able to do.

“It’s completely re-energised me again,” says Sasha. “I’m jumping up and down in the DJ booth. And people can feel that on the dance floor, they know.”

Jump on board the world’s biggest party phenomenon with Sasha, Desyn Masiello, Mark Emerson, Paul Dean, Tim Richards, Astral, Rob Warner & Tom Ward bringing together what will undoubtedly be an outstanding second SMIRNOFF Experience™ in New Zealand.

Tickets are $41.50+ booking fee and are available from Ticketdirect -www.ticketdirect.co.nz , Real Groovy, Sounds Stores, Play Records or by texting 'sasha' to 858.
