Lucire’s biggest Kiwi issue previews US cover

New Zealand's first fashion magazine of the year

Wellington, February 13 (JY&A Media) New Zealand fashion magazine Lucire has started the year with its biggest issue, dubbed ‘Jet-set’, a month out from appearing on American newsstands. The cover, photographed by Gray Scott and beauty directed by Jessica Tarazi, will be shared with Lucire's 180 pp. American edition when it emerges in March.

‘“Jet-set” is a perfect expression of Lucire's global principles,’ says publisher Jack Yan. ‘And New Zealanders now have a clue on what the first American issue will look like.’

In a reversal to what normally happens in magazine shops and newsstands around New Zealand, Kiwis will be the first to get this issue of Lucire, while international editions follow.

The February 2006 issue of New Zealand's only fashion monthly features interviews with America's Next Top Model's Nigel Barker, accessories' designer Malini Murjani, and Oribe Canales, Jennifer Lopez's hairstylist of choice. Vivian Kelly oversaw both Ms Murjani's and Mr Canales' stories.

Fashion stories include the Victoria's Secret catwalk show, recently shown on TV3 and reported on here by Yvette Coleman, while the beauty section is led by an in-depth story on the geisha look, photographed by Nischa.

Photo shoots from Mr Scott, and from Søren Mørk and Giuliano Bekor, continue Lucire's drive for quality among its photographic shoots, spurred by the efforts of New York talent management company, Veritas.

In line with Lucire's social conscience and in response to reader demands, a new section called 'Real Life' makes its début for February, with Summer Rayne Oakes reporting from the front lines of the World Trade Organization meeting in Hong Kong. New Zealander Sam Graham photographed.

A travel story on Africa, by Judy Ecochard and photographed by her husband Jean-Louis Ecochard, is one of the title’s most exotic to date.

Stories in Lucire Men, a section inside the magazine, include profiles on resort boss and former film producer Henry Crawford and the magazine’s annual ‘Car to Be Seen in’.

Promoting New Zealand fashion, Lucire's main prize is a $1,000 wardrobe from Auckland-headquartered label Jigsaw.
