Lighthouse Cinema casts light on the Kapiti Coast
Tuesday, 11 April, 2006
From Petone to Pauatahanui, the popular Lighthouse Cinema casts light on the Kapiti Coast.
On April 13th, 2006 the boutique Lighthouse Cinema, currently based in Petone, will open an additional cinema at Pauatahanui on the Kapiti Coast. Based on the successful mix of great films, cosy theatres with comfy couches and a friendly welcoming atmosphere, The Lighthouse Cinema Pauatahanui will offer local residents a world-class cinema-going experience at their doorstep.
Located at No. 3, Paekakariki Road, Pauatahanui, this brand new cinema will boast two large screens seating 60 and 30 in each, be open seven days, and showcase a wide range of films from arthouse avant-garde to local films, documentaries and popular international box office hits.
“There was a consensus among the partners of Lighthouse Pauatahanui (Phillip Reidy, Woody Horsfield & Dick Werry), that there was a need for a quality art house cinema in the Kapiti region”, says Simon Werry, owner of the Lighthouse Cinema Petone. “More and more people are choosing to live on the coast because of the relaxed lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean they no-longer want to be able to watch great films or drink a premium cup of coffee or wine.”
“People choose to go to a film, rather than stay at home with a DVD, because they want something more than just the film itself – they want an experience. Our Petone cinema has a pretty even mix of local and Wellington audiences, many of whom will make the trip out especially.
We believe the Pauatahanui cinema will not only cater for the local communities, but also become a destination for film buffs from further afield. It is an awesome location with plenty of free parking and a stunning outlook over the local reserve and estuary. We are also very committed to supporting the local community with fundraisers and gala evenings. ”
The Lighthouse Cinema Pauatahanui will open to the public on Thursday 13 April 2006. Bookings and enquiries can be made firstname.lastname@example.org or by phoning (04) 234 6770.
