March 1, 2007

Stars of 'Hot Fuzz' and Peter Jackson to appear at New Zealand's first MySpace Black Curtain Screening

The stars of the hit UK comedy movie Hot Fuzz will appear at New Zealand's first ever MySpace Black Curtain Screening at the Embassy Theatre, Wellington, on Friday March 9.

MySpace.com is the world's premier internet lifestyle portal for communicating with friends and discovering culture.

The Black Curtain Screenings are exclusive, free national movie premieres which give people the chance to see the latest films before anyone else.

To become a member of Black Curtain Screenings people need to create a Myspace account and visit www.myspace.com/blackcurtainnz. Once they have added themselves as a friend to this profile they will then receive details about each secret screening as they become available.

There are no tickets involved. Users are to queue at the location for entry to the exclusive screening as it is a first come first served basis.

"Following the launch of the localised MySpace New Zealand site last week, the Black Curtain Screenings will be hosted in different cities throughout the country," general manager for Fox Interactive, Rebekah Horne said.

"Black Curtain Screenings are for our MySpace users, to get them involved with the site and have a good time with some great films."

The film Hot Fuzz - in which Peter Jackson makes a brief cameo - is the first ever movie to be featured as part of the New Zealand MySpace Black Curtain Screenings.
Peter Jackson will host two of the film's stars, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and Director, Edgar Wright, at the New Zealand MySpace premiere.

"We are ecstatic to have the guys from Hot Fuzz and Peter Jackson at our inaugural New Zealand Black Carpet screening - it promises to be a fantastic night," Ms. Horne said.

Hot Fuzz is an action-packed comedy from the creators of the hilarious movie, Shaun of the Dead, featuring a cast which includes Oscar(r) winner Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Martin Freeman and Timothy Dalton. It has already proven a major hit opening at number one in the UK.

Interviews are available with general manger for Fox Interactive Media (encompassing MySpace.com), Rebekah Horne.
