FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE;

The Great NZ Movie Survey – Polls Close Soon

www.flicks.co.nz’s exhaustive, two month survey to find NZ’s Favourite (and most hated) Movie Ever is in its last weeks.

From the thousands of received votes, Flicks will release the results in a list similar to that of the American Film Institute & British Film Institute Top 100.

Notable NZ’ers have cast there votes – film makers, actors, film critics, Naked Samoans, politicians.

There’s PM Helen Clark’s Che Guevara-revolutionary favourite (and personality defining?) The Motorcycle Diaries.

John Key’s family friendly, Rowan Atkinson starring, Johnny English.

Director Costa Botes (Forgotten Silver) declares Peter Jackson’s Heavenly Creatures “hands down the great NZ movie” and passionately abuses Sin City – “It's just like a comic? Big f***ing deal. Read the comic. Or better still, read a book. Watch a movie about something. Get a life.”

John Campbell is Mr. Cultured with a list of top shelf favourites from European directors like Werner Herzog, Lars Von Trier, Lasse Hallstrom & Wim Wenders.

Out Of The Blue director Rob Sarkies’ favourites are “depressing”, but reasons that his list of dramatic films “burn into your consciousness and feel like you have lived another life. And I love that about the movies.”

bro’Town cast / the Naked Samoans’ ecliptic tastes include classics like Oscar Kightley’s favourite (amongst others) It’s A Wonderful Life and David Fane’s picks of Singin’ In The Rain and Casablanca. But Oscar hates “this gay one my mate Emma made me see”, David hates Peter Jackson’s King Kong, while Gigli and “anything with the Duece Bigalow guy” make Mario Gaoa want to “beat up the movie screen”.

Also listed are NZ’s top film critics from the Lumiere Reader, NZ Herald, TV3, The Christchurch Press, Sunday Star-Times and The Listener.

We urge all the fine folk of New Zealand to CAST YOUR VOTE before polls close on May 31. Do so here: www.flicks.co.nz/nzsfavmovie
