Fashion's Best Strut Their Stuff At Sky City

Last night, 13 July 2007, the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre was dressed to the nines as 12 of New Zealand's top designers took to the catwalk to raise funds for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

The eighth annual 'In the Pink' fashion fundraiser proved that it is one of the hottest events on the Auckland calendar with this year's tickets selling out weeks in advance. Ticket sales, raffle sales and auction bids raised a massive $100,000 for the Foundation's ongoing community education and awareness programmes.

SKYCITY Community Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Kylie Archer, says SKYCITY was thrilled to once again be the major sponsor of 'In the Pink'.

"With breast cancer being one of the leading causes of cancer and death among New Zealand women, SKYCITY is honoured to help The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation continue their vital work in our community," says Ms Archer.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation Executive Director, Helen Mawn, says 'In the Pink' has been a tremendously successful fundraiser for the charity in previous years with the event raising over $450,000 to date.

"Every year about 2,500 New Zealand women are diagnosed with breast cancer. We are incredibly grateful for the support of SKYCITY, the fashion designers, entertainers and all those who help us raise much needed funds for breast cancer education and awareness," says Ms Mawn.

'In the Pink' designers included: Liz Mitchell, Yvonne Bennetti, Andrea Moore, Helen Talbot, Zambesi, Jane Rhodes, Doris de Pont, Caroline Church, Little Brother, Annah Stretton, Hailwood and Triumph Lingerie.
